Comments: Great upgrade. For some reason I think the club checkin person said “executive suite”, but the room is a regular Royal Club room, which is still a great upgrade. The hotel appears pretty high occupancy right now. They’ve upgraded platinum benefits since I was last here a few years ago — 500 points and either continental breakfast in the club lounge or the amazing full breakfast in the downstairs, afternoon tea in the club lounge, and now evening drinks can be taken in the club lounge or the bar downstairs. For the sake of review, I’ll check out both the club lounge and the non-club lounge options, but given the mostly-expat crowd in the club lounge, and the hi-so local crowd in the main restaurant and bar, I suspect downstairs is the superior option — plus, the PA main restaurant breakfast is one of the best in the world. Sadly PA isn’t participating in TTD/TTK promos, but for 7000 points/night on a two night award stay, it’s a great value, and doubling my incidental spend is probably worth it.
